Family Rights Nationwide Protest

Suzy Nickel and Kelly Vick

The American Family Rights Association of Washington State is promoting a nation wide campaign that has taken off like a firestorm throughout the United States. On Dec. 1st, Rosa Parks Day, the 50 States will protest in unison against the abuses families face in foster child custody cases involving the Department of Children and Family Services. Dec. 1st was the landmark day that one brave woman refused to take a backseat to injustice, and we will follow in Rosa's footsteps and refuse to tolerate the injustice of having related foster children adopted outside their biological families when there are fit, willing and qualified family members available to take custody of them. They are being used as funding for the State, and the relatives are taking a stand, and distributing the same number of flyers per State as were distributed on the first day of the Alabama bus boycott.

Washington State is now recognized nation wide as the "Poster child of corruption" for obstructing more relatives from adopting foster children than any other state. The monetary incentives attached to foster children must be removed or made available to the families so that this never again becomes a determining factor in the placement of these children. Children should not be considered funding for the State...they are children with families, not commodities.

Leonard Henderson's National AFRA site www.familyrightsassociation.com is heavily promoting this Nation wide protest scheduled for Dec. 1st. The appalling zero percentile of relative adoptions in Washington State is inexcusable! Washington State AFRA will lead the way in child protection reform and it is our desire to make Washington the poster child for nurturing the American family, not destroying it.
