A new weapon for
the local music scene

Several musicians, writers and professionals
from around the Inland Northwest have come together to create
the Lilac City Nightmare Music and Entertainment magazine
and weekly papers. We have done this because this area's
musical talent should not be taken lightly. We have also
started the publication to do the same thing as spokanenews.org,
spokaneevents.com,
musicinspokane.com
(SUN Radio), spokanebands.com
and spokanerocks.com
are doing. It seems we are all working to up the level of
local participation in community events, local awareness
and to reclaim our cultural media.
These are not easy tasks but they are needed for our area
to thrive. Our publications focus on music but we have also
been covering many political and social issues as well.
Our staff is collectively tired of mainstream media's constant
barrage of spin and black and white reports. Our magazine
is focused on searching out all the gray areas we can to
give our readers as many facts to form an educated opinion
as possible and more importantly, the resources to research
topics themselves.
The five major media companies in our nation have all agreed
to use sex, fear, sensationalism, Cultural Communism (also
known as Politically Correctness), fact spiking/avoiding
and all out propaganda to guide our overly-worked minds
into harmful directions. The time for leadership is already
here and the time to be active is right now.
The Lilac City Nightmare staff is also working hard to
bring a local music program to a corporate radio station
or two. The people of Spokane own the air-waves that these
media companies profit from. It's the least they can do!
Local music has been almost completely removed from radio
in many markets over the last few years but movements all
over the country to restore it have been successful. With
support Spokane can do the same. Cultural media is AS important
and influential as any other media and it needs to be strong
and well represented.
We are also taking steps to organize a local and regional
talent program for television. Our local access channels
are a great way to feature our area's talent and build our
city's reputation. We are currently putting together a team
of professionals to see this through. Volunteers are very
much welcome. If we work together to build a solid, organized,
publicly supported and "user-friendly" nightlife
our city will yield many economic and emotional benefits.
We are determined to create better places for our young
people to be entertained as well. This is a serious problem
that must be addressed. We are trying to keep kids away
from the temptations of excess but too many of our young
people feel that there are too few options to choose from.
They are right. This is an issue as important as education
because IT IS EDUCATION! These kids learn a great deal about
life, people and themselves when they are able to converse
with lots of new young adults their age and be entertained
together. We have formed the Lilac City Nightmare Society
to discuss this issue, those presented above and much more.
It is open to all. We hope that other groups will start
and work towards these same goals. You can get a hold of
the Lilac City Nightmare Society or the Lilac City Nightmare
Publications at lilaccitynightmare@hotmail.com
Please type LCNS in the subject section of your e-mail

We are also looking for writers for a variety of social,
political and community oriented issues. Send us an E-mail
and we'll talk.
