Help 4 the Homeless Contribution
Drive
Winter is fast approaching and the homeless members of
our community need your help. Most homeless people are ill
prepared for the cold. They are either lacking in proper
gear to keep themselves warm enough at night or are using
worn out and inadequate equipment. People 4 People, a new
Spokane area organization of the homeless and formerly homeless,
is opening a call for contributions from the people of the
Greater Spokane Area to gather sleeping bags, rain gear,
camping equipment, bicycles and parts, heavy clothing, blankets,
1st aid kits and many other necessities to give to the homeless
to help them survive the upcoming winter. The contribution
drive will run from October 10th through October 20th with
distributions starting as soon as we have the gear ready
to go.
Shalom Ministries at the Central Methodist Church is our
main processing site and we have 9,000 square feet of storage
area in the basement at the former CHAS Clinic building
which now serves as a 24-hour drop-in center. The Salvation
Army has partnered with us and offered the use of a truck
to transport some of the donations from collection points
to our main storage and processing site. We will greatly
appreciate any help that our generous community can give.
